Dirt and Sheaves Before you buy this greaseless sheave combo you should know there are a minor number of people as compared to the number of owners of this sheave in different parts of the country that have had some dirt and hanging up issues. While the number is minor we need to address the possibly you might have issues and will know what to do about it. Unfortunately it took us a long time to address this due to the number of people having this issue took so long to build up to enough people to recognize it as a true problem. First we have no plans to change anything on our end on the product as there are simply too many running around problem free. Greaseless is still the way to go, just so happens a few people simply can't run it is all. Enter in the TinkSeal we sell as a superior substitute for yamaha grease. For whatever reason, whether the intake on the clutch or the design of the clutch cover on a X2/X4 not enough air is moving inside the sheave to keep the dirt blown out. Can also happen on the other Yamaha vehicles as well, just so few of those hardly worth mentioning but if it is you then you will be doing the same. So if you are one of the unlucky ones having this issue your first line of defense is a air nozzle that can be bought off ebay to blow out the sheave after a day of dusty riding without removing the cover. This solution goes a long way to prevent it and is a much better option than having grease still in your clutch and having the dirt sticking to that, grease might extend the maintenance period but would require you to take it apart, clean that nasty mess out and go again. Second line of defense would be to use our TinkSeal in the place of yamaha grease. Sure you are not greaseless anymore but it will fix the issue and elongate the time for a take apart cleaning just be a bigger mess when you do. We still prefer greaseless but some people simply can't run it, thank goodness they are in the minority. We also are offering our sheave without weights for those who would like to buy it without and get your own weights. Thanks Todd |
