Wolverine/Viking Sheave Disclaimer I have several topics to cover on the Wolverine sheaves and this does not apply to the Rhino, they have been 100% fail safe for a long time. If you are going to let a dealer or shop install our sheave in your machine then we would rather you not purchase it. The failure rate of shop/dealer installs is extremely high because they either do not watch our install video or disagree with some of it and do it their way then when it fails the customer blames us for the failure and that simply is not the case. We can't be responsible for anyones installation errors. It makes it very hard when a dealer/shop does it wrong and tell you it is the product because they don't want to admit they failed. Our videos allow even a novice mechanic to be able to do it problem free when followed. We have found some discrepancy in the Wolverine sheaves and the shafts the clutches run on. A recent discovery was the shaft the clutch is on seems to be slightly too long on some vehicles and the nut actually touches the splines on the shafts and they are not supposed to then it is possible the clutch parts are loose on the shaft. This has nothing to do with our product, this is the case with the stock one. Customer called today with totally stock system and his fixed sheave was loose. So when you add our products and you have that issue then it can fail, not our product. So when you remove the nut off the primary clutch, look on the back for marks where it dug into it.
You need to know that clutching is very specific to a task, if you are a technical rider your set up is one way, if you are a hill climber it is another, a fast rider another and a duner another. Point is, there is no such thing as a do all clutch set up, RZR owners have been aware of this a long time and Wolverine owners coming from Rhino's are not quite there yet. This does not affect the rhino so much due to the limiting factor of engine power and suspension so it was not used in as wide array of uses like the Wolverine. Point is, if you are not willing to maybe having to buy more rollers or springs for a application you have then once again, don't buy it. Top speed varies, most will get a gain in top speed with the sheave and power commander but once you put he fuel the way it should be which is richer than the way it comes now, it can have an effect on top speed as well as tire size, windshields and weight of passengers, other mods etc. We simply can't guarantee top speeds. RZR owners can buy an adjustable clutch kit that can be adjusted for all kinds of conditions and a Wolverine owner can't adjust his, he has to buy more weights or springs. However we do give you a deal on more weights. It is also best to call a Wolverine sheave order in so I can help you with spring and weight selection and give advice. Also, make sure you read all our articles on the Wolverine and Viking Sheave page and make sure you see this Big tires are rough on clutch parts, using tires 28" and larger is not recommended but if you must, do so at your own risk of clutch parts. Also, the use of snorkels are not recommended, if 28" tires and larger and or snorkels with any size tires use this product at your own risk. Also if you must, do not use the shim that comes with the kit and use a OEM belt. Large tires and or snorkels or any extreme high heat clutch condition can make the belt elongate and make it hit the cover. The mechanical advantage of the low end of the sheave makes the belt run close to the cover so when you have a extreme high heat condition the belt elongates and might hit the cover. Info about the Viking VI The VI in our opinion is really going to make a clutch hot, and the use of our sheaves on one with any size tires is really not recommended. The main purpose of a sheave in a Wolverine or Viking would be better slow technical capabilities, better midrange and maybe some more top speed all depending weights, springs, tire size, windshield etc. Also, we do not recommend any aftermarket belts with the machined sheaves, only OEM. If you have a stock clutch then the Gates Carbon belt works great. If you have any questions please call Todd |
