2018-2022 Ranger XP 1000 STD White Washer What is the issue and why do I need this washer? There seems to be an issue with the new body style Ranger XP 1000, not sure on the regular 1000 at this time but on this one to have a belt overtravel issue on some vehicles. How do you know if it is yours? Belt hits the cover below the primary clutch and to the right on the inside cover, there will be "witness" marks on the cover. Next symptom is a burning rubber smell at higher speeds under loads. What is the cause? Not quite sure why all of the clutches in this year range do not have the issue but some do not, the ones that do close the clutch too far, running the belt out of the primary too far, hits the cover and loses grip on the belt since not much is still in the clutch. What is the fix? Very simple really, install one of our STD washers we orginally created for the XP 1000 RZR and still sell because they have a belt overtravel issue but it affects the secondary, by overtraveling and belt hits inside the secondary blowing belts at high speed. By installing this washer like the RZR it limits the travel of the primary clutch as it closes, so it does not close quite all the way or as much as it does now. In turn the belt will not go as far up and out and not lose belt grip. Do I need this, not sure I have the issue? Never a bad idea and we have now started including them in all full replacement clutches as well as the EBS delete/clutch half kits we sell for the XP Ranger, cheap insurance!! Will I lose any top speed? Simply no, we are not moving this clutch but around .020" not enough to change top speed, just enough to move the belt back in the clutch. |
